Wine Characters and Styles

The wines of Chateau Grand Puy Ducasse are strong, tannic Pauillac wines. They are known for their structure, tannin, and complexity. The wines have a minerality that is derived from the cement, egg-shaped vats used in vinification.

Wine-making Techniques

The wine is vinified in stainless steel vats, with malolactic fermentation taking place mostly in tank. A small percentage of the wine sees malolactic fermentation in the barrel. The wines are aged in 50% new, French oak barrels for an average of 18 months, depending on the character of the vintage.
