Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth wine from St. Julien in Bordeaux, France.

The estate has special soils that are literally covered with large stones. The word Beaucaillou is translated into beautiful stones. The 75-hectare vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and the average age of the vines is 35 years.

The wine is aged in 75% to 90% new, French oak barrels for between 18 and 20 months. The best vintages are 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2000, 1996, 1982 and 1961.

Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou is best served at 15.5 degrees Celsius, 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The wine is usually far too tannic, powerful, and reserved during its youth. Young vintages can be decanted for an average of 3-4 hours, give or take.

Ducru Beaucaillou is best served with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised, and grilled dishes. It is also a perfect match with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, salmon, mushrooms, and pasta, as well as cheese.
