Chateau Montrose Overview

Chateau Montrose is a Second Growth Bordeaux winery located in the St. Estephe appellation. The vineyard is 95 hectares and planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. 

The gravel terroir is deep and has sand and clay soil. The wine is known for being powerful, full-bodied and complex, with a richness that fills the mouth and coats the palate. 

The wine is aged in an average of 60% new, French oak barrels for about 18 months. 

The best vintages of Chateau Montrose are: 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2000, 1996, 1995, 1990, 1989, 1961 and 1959. The wine is best stored between 55-60°F, and served between 60-64°F. Young vintages should be decanted for at least 2-4 hours.
