Wine Characters and Styles

Chateau Mouton Rothschild produces Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blends. The wine is known for its deep color, complexity, and aging potential. The wine has flavors of black currant, blackberry, tobacco, and cedar.

Wine-making Techniques

Mouton Rothschild was the first Bordeaux owner to insist on bottling all its wine at their estate. Prior to that point, chateaux either bottled their wine or sold it in the barrel to negociants, who bottled and sold the wine. The more common practice was to sell the wine in barrel to negociants. The grapes are collected in 12-kilo open baskets. Picking is done entirely by hand.
