Winery

Le Petit Haut Lafitte is the sub-label launched by Smith Haut Lafitte. Smith Haut Lafitte was reorganized after the French supermarket tycoon Daniel Cathiard bought the winery in 1990, bringing it back to the first-class level of Pessac Leognan. Due to the unique terroir and conditions in this area, it is suitable for planting red and white grapes, making it one of the few Bordeaux-producing areas that are good for both red and white wines. Parker even gave red wine and white wine 100 points in 2009 and 2010, and the momentum was the same for a while! Being praised as one of the highest potentials for capital appreciation in the region of Pessac-Leognan.

This is a ripe soft wine, full of warm fruit and soft tannins. It is always the second wine of the impressive Smith Haut-Lafitte, a rich wine in its own right. It has cassis and black plum flavors with some tannin solids. Made with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Drink from 2018.

Haut Lafitte 2019 grand wine is the no.1 choice for James Suckling among all the Bordeaux wines in 2022. We will be sourcing for you, our privileged wine secret members someday soon!

Wine Secret Comments: Choosing this sub-label as one of the selections is mainly because its quality is great enough to challenge the grand vins in 2017. This medium to deep garnet-purple Le Petit Haut Lafitte gives the smell of tar, new leather, and truffles over a few years of bottling, with the core of plums, and mulberries. With a slight smell of lavender, this medium-bodied palate gives loads of black cherries and an earthy finish. A great pairing for both western and Chinese cuisines.
